They are back!

The dragonflies are back.  They make me smile.  I haven’t started taking pictures yet.  My camera quality is a bit embarrassing.  I picked this one from the internet.  : (

It took Spring a long time to get here, but it is making up for it now.  I put a hummingbird feeder out and there was one within five minutes.  The frogs, toads, skinks, and snakes are out.  I have seen some turtles basking, but I haven’t had to move any off the road yet.

The daffodils are beautiful this year and my perennials are coming up.  The trees are starting to get leaves and the dogwoods are just beginning to bloom.  I try not to complain about Winter, but I am ready for Spring!

Chill

“Gie me a spark o’ nature’s fire,

That’s a’ the learning I desire.” ~Robert Burns ~

Again, this is not one of my pictures.  I think it is beautiful.  Dragonflies and spiders – what could be better?!  It’s like getting peanut butter in my chocolate!

Cooler weather is here.  That’s good and bad.  I don’t have to sweat every time I walk out the door, but I will miss the summer insects, spiders, and plants.  I find them to be amazing.  At least I can look forward to the spring.

Dragons that Fly

“Most human beings have an absolute and infinite capacity for taking things for granted.” ~ Aldous Huxley ~

This is not one of my pictures.  Pretty.  I can’t recall ever having seen one like this.

We got through Hurricane/Tropical Storm Michael.  We had no power for a couple of days, but I won’t complain about that considering what others have dealt with recently.  I try not to take things for granted and to be grateful for what I do have.  Things can be better, but they can also be worse.  It can be hard to remember that sometimes.  Gratitude journals do help you refocus on what is important.

Laughing Dragonfly

Kind of like laughing Buddha, only cuter.

“If a little dreaming is dangerous, the cure for it is not to dream less but to dream more, to dream all the time.” ~Marcel Proust~

It looks like I post the same dragonfly over and over, but they are different ones.  I can tell them apart.  No, I’m not kidding.   :^)

No one has commented on my bad poetry, so maybe I should give it a rest.

I know I’m not very good at it, but I’m trying.  :^ (

To a Narcissist

Why did you take my heart?

It wasn’t what you wanted.

You said you loved me.

And I believed you.

Now you say you never loved me.

And I believe you.

I didn’t want to make waves.

You used that to drown me.

Giving me enough air to keep me alive.

Taking it away to keep me under control.

It doesn’t matter either way.

You’ve made yourself clear.

I no longer let you feed on my soul.

You have others for that now.

I gave you my past.

The future is mine.

I, Dragonfly

“It’s not the mountain we conquer but ourselves.” ~ Sir Edmund Hillary ~

I had my annual recheck for Cushing’s Disease today.  I don’t dwell on it, but it is a relief to know I’m okay.  At least if it comes again I will get it taken care of right away instead of being misdiagnosed for nine years.  :^(  I guess it was a case of better late than never.  The dragonflies will keep me smiling.  Always.  My symbol of new beginnings.
